Fall Must-haves

Fall is my favorite season. I love fall decor, hearty soups, cooler temps, and everything cinnamon. I also LOVE fall fashion. I feel most confident wearing jeans with a cute top and boots. And don’t get me started on infinity scarves!

I’ve put together a collage of my top fall must-have basics! When I think of basics, I think of things that can be worn for multiple seasons. I picked basic pieces that can be worn over and over again with varying looks.

Bell Sleeves

This is the 1 trendy piece I picked for all. Stripes are always in season, so rest assured you can wear this top for years to come. This top is longer in length with small slits on the side. It’s flattering and the sleeves are comfortable. I found the one above at Nordstrom for $49. I also love this one and this one.

Cognac Boots

Let’s talk boots. Everyone – literally – needs knee high brown boots for fall/winter. I wear mine religiously. They go with casual shirts, sweaters, tunics, dresses…basically anything! I have the Sam Edelmen “Penny” boots pictured above. They come in wide calf, and are true wide calf boots (trust me, I can vouch). These boots from Old Navy are cute as well!

Bold Earrings

My fall uniform consists of a shirt, jeans, boots, scarf, and cute earrings! I’ll wear really dangly ones since i’m not wearing a necklace. These Kendra Scott “Sophee” Earrings are surprisingly lightweight and go with everything. I’m also looking at these Target teardrop ones.

Black Skinnies

Summer is for white jeans; fall is for black jeans. I LOVE black skinny jeans. You can wear them to work by adding a dressy blouse and ballet flats. Or dress them up for a night out with heels. And black is universally slimming! These AG jeans are from Nordstrom. I also love Loft’s ankle version.

Lace Detail Shirts

Lace is the most feminine clothing material. Adding it to a shirt instantly makes the shirt sexy. Lace shirts are all the rage right now. This shirt from Old Navy has lace on the bottom and is only $26.94! This Loft lace yoke tee is amazing as well!

Anorak

Olive green anoraks scream fall. And the cinched waist flatters every figure. Many anoraks – like this Michael Kors one – have hoods and are water repellant. Target also makes an anorak that is only $39.99!

Crossbody Saddle Bag

Disclaimer: crossbody saddle bags can be worn any time of the year. But there’s something about fall that makes crossbody bags extra perfect. Especially when there’s coffee in the other hand! If you’re like me, then you carry a bunch of stuff in your bag, and you need to be able to access it at all times. Choose a crossbody. And choose a neutral color. You’ll have that purse for years! I love the color of this Vince Camuto crossbody – like a gray/beige (greige!!!). Tignanello from Macy’s has one in a similar color.

Plaid

For the longest time, I pronounced plaid as “played” (not sure if this is something I should reveal on my blog, but whatever). And I thought the only people who wore it were lumberjacks. My oh my, has the time changed! I love this Madewell plaid shirt from Shopbop. Old Navy also has an amazing selection – like this one.

Animal Print Flats

Ballet flats are great. Animal print ballet flats are even better! I’ve said this before, but IMO animal prints work best when mixed in as accessories – think clutches, scarves, and shoes like these Steve Madden ones. I’m also a huge fan of these Cole Haan snakeskin flats – they’re insanely comfortable!

Booties

I have a love/hate relationship with booties. Up until now, I didn’t think they looked good on me, especially because I have to roll my jeans. I found these booties at Nordstrom (Caslon brand). They’re great because  the shaft part is shallow and you don’t have to roll your jeans! They’re comfortable and true to size. These Target booties are similar in color and style, and are only half the price at $49.99!

What’s on your fall must-haves list? Let me know in the comments!
